We will be spending a lot of time at the pool this summer, I’m sure!  We have a neighborhood pool, plus our kids love to go to our old clubhouse pool (they have three water slides), so we end up spending a lot of time in the water.   With four kids, ages nine and under, I like to be completely prepared in the water… so today, I am partnering with Kellogg’s® Raisin Bran Granola and Massive Sway to bring you my favorite tips:  6 things that we forget to take to the pool that would be so helpful!
Lets first state the obvious: Â Towels & sunscreen.
Ok- now onto the things that we often forget.
1). Â Water
Yes, you are surrounded by water, but you can’t drink it (well, let’s say you SHOULDN’T drink it).  Bring a bottle of water for yourself and your kids.  It can get very hot outside and you may not even realize it, because you are swimming. Did you know that if you hydrate enough your fingers don’t prune quite as much?  Interesting.
2). Â Snacks.
Just like water, kids so often forget snacks.  I usually just toss a bag of Kellogg’s® Raisin Bran® Granola.  It is our favorite!  The kids have it almost daily as a snack with yogurt & fruit, too.
I sometimes prepare it in the mornings like this (so it will be ready for them when we get home from the pool)
Â
3). A cell phone.
I consider this to be a must, because of safety reasons.  If someone becomes injured at the pool, it will just take a minute to call 9-1-1.
Â
4. Â A brush or comb
I would never have thought of this before our daughter, Allie. Â She has the most gorgeous hair, but it is filled with tangles after a swim in the pool, lake or ocean.
5. Â Large Utility Tote
I LOVE our large utility bag so much.  I can fit four towels, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, pool toys (all things that are great to have at the pool, too!) … just about everything in this bag!  It was a gift from my mother-in-law and I use to constantly.  I take it to sporting events, the beach, etc..  (This one that I have is a Thirty-One bag, but I’m sure that other brands make it.
6). A paintbrush
This is what we do when Allie doesn’t want to swim anymore, but her big brothers aren’t done just yet.  She paints with water on the concrete.  I brought extra to the pool yesterday and we had 5 kids making pictures with water and paintbrushes.
