Ā

Tonight, we were sitting at our dining room table, eating dinner, when our six year old asked me ā€œMom, how did God make himself?ā€
My reply was as ā€œhumanā€ as they come… ā€œI don’t know.ā€Ā Ā  I went on to tell him that when I was little, I can remember leaving church, in the parking lot, and asking my parents that same question.Ā  My Mom’s answer was ā€œHe always was and always will be.ā€

Tonight, when I was telling him this story, our soon-to-be five year old, chimed in…

As casually as if he were saying ā€œpass the breadā€, he said ā€œOh, just ask him when you get there.ā€

I said ā€œWhat do you mean?ā€Ā  and he said ā€œWhen we go to Heaven, we’ll just ask him. He’ll tell usā€

I loved the certainty of his voice.Ā  He knew that one day he would get to ask that question face-to-face. Ā  He talked as if to say ā€œDon’t worry about that stuff.Ā  God knows & that’s enoughā€.

If we could all have the faith of a child…

Matthew 19:14 NIVĀ Ā  ā€˜Jesus said, ā€œLet the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.ā€ ā€˜

Matthew 18:3 And he said: ā€œTruly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

When we truly understand our children, we can learn so much from them!
