In the past few months, my family and I have started eating more plant-based foods. In fact, Mickey and I have been eating vegan for almost every meal. We will occasionally eat a non-vegan meal if we are out, but at home, we stick to a plant-based diet.Ā  Why?Ā  Studies confirm that plant-based diets help you live longer.

It all started when we were watching a documentary on TV about the enormous health benefits of cutting out certain foods and replacing them with plant-based foods. We were shocked at the research that had been done, so we continued it and researched more at home.

We were flooded with study after study of people that had started eating plant-based foods and were able to not only heal themselves but also feel better.

One study in 2017, funded by Bill Gates, found that dietary risks were the leading cause of death and disability! Poor diet was found to be associated with over 11.3 million deaths.

When we started looking at different recipes online, we found that they were pretty straight-forward and easy to make. We’ve been eating fruit bowls with Pea Milk in the morning…

Breakfast every morning: 1 banana, 1 apple, blueberries, hemp seeds, raisins (& strawberries when I have them) in a bowl with unsweetened vanilla Pea Milk poured over it. šŸ˜‹

These are the Breakfast smoothies that the kids drink in the mornings. It keeps them full so long & they love them. šŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹ šŸ“šŸ„¬šŸŒšŸ‡They have grapes, kale, strawberries, pineapple, banana, blueberries, avocado, pea milk & ice. So good!

For dinner, we often have zucchini with some sort of sauce on it (like avocado pesto sauce)…

Lunch. 🄰 Mickey created a delicious avocado pesto sauce for these raw zucchini noodles. So good! I told him to put the recipe on his blog next week :).

Or we pick up a Vegan meal at the store (we like Sweet Earth Food frozen meals from Target – they are quick to heat up & they taste great).Ā  You can find them HERE.Ā Ā It makes it easy to eat plant-based foods when you know that you still have those quick go-to meals on nights when you don’t have the time (or desire) to cook. šŸ™‚

All in all, I haven’t missed meat or dairy at all. Neither has Mickey. My parents have also started eating this way and they have both said that it has been a much easier transition than expected, too.

I think that when you know that there are studies confirming that plant-based diets help you to live a longer, healthier life, it makes the change a whole lot easier. I want to be around for my kids & their kids & their kids. If eating healthy will do that for us… I’m all in.
